Goulibeur Butter Biscuits
Butter cookies - or galette pur beurre - were a very
traditional and popular treat among families in rural France. Easy
and cheap to make, all what a galette needed was wheat , from
the neighboring fields, butter and eggs, from home-raised cows and
chicks. If no sugar was available, sweet liquor would be added.
Goulibeur became famous for the ceremonial breakage by the fist of
a giant 20" galettes which then would be shared between all family
members or between villagers.
